Good information..
Hello! I am looking forward to learn filmmaking the structured manner from a film school. I would like to take the traditional way – i.e. learning the history, film theories along with learning the practical side. Since I am from a middle class family, it is risking a bit to go abroad to pursue film education especially because of the stay back rules when it comes to arts courses.
I am listing below some of the colleges I have considered along with my thoughts. It would be great if you could tell me if my thoughts are in the right direction or not or add some value.
1. Beijing Film Academy (expensive, very low acceptance rate – but worth it if you get in – I don’t know whether I can get employment in China for a while at least or if it is safe considering the present political tensions to go there)
2. Lodz Film School, Poland (I feel this is the school for me from heart – yes it is expensive for me – and I haven’t done much research to know about employment just like in China (or any other country I am seeing); also I am little skeptical about the idea of learning Polish in a class they give and then take tuition in cinema in that language)
3. FTII (I know it is great – it is a treasure chest – very hard to get in – on top of that reservation will diminish the chance)
4. SRFTI (same scene as FTII)
5. NYU Film School – Singapore (didn’t do much research but I am showing interest since it is in Singapore)
6. Korean Academy of Fine Arts (??)
7. FAMU
8. National Film and Television School, UK (Heard that it’s very pricey)
9. Australian Film, Television and Radio School
10. Altos de Chavon Film School
11. Thefilmacademy, Vienna
12. La Femis
I know it’s a long list, but I would be very obliged if you could help me out.
Great Effort. Thank you Aravind
