About National Institute of Design
The National Institute of Design (NID) is a leading designing School based in Ahmedabad, India. The institute is directly working under Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and is recognized by Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. Though it has 4 campuses, NID Ahmedabad is only offering courses in Film studies.

NID is an Autonomous Educational Institution. All of its courses are approved by University Grants Commission.

As like FTII or SRFTI, NID is not only a filmmaking training Institute but also it offering wide range of other design oriented courses. NID is offering film related courses in two disciplines-
- Bachelor of Design: Animation and Film Design (4-Years)
- Bachelor of Design: Film and Video Communication (4-Years)

Age
Candidates in the General Category born or before July 1, 1997 are not eligible to apply (i.e. age 20)
Candidates in the reserved category (OBC-NCL, SC, ST & PH) born on or before July 1, 1994 are not eligible. (i.e. age 23)
Academic Qualifications- Eligibility
Candidates passed 10+ 2 from a recognized board of education or equivalents, during the academic year 2016-17 are eligible to apply.
Entrance Exam 2017- National Institute of Design
If you wish to study a Film Course in National Institute of Design, then you have to pass the three stages of Interview.
Stage 1: It’s an aptitude test. The duration of Aptitude test will be of 3 Hours and it comprises questions for 100 marks questions.
Stage 2: The shortlisted candidates will be called for attending studio test which comprises questions for total of 100 marks.
Stage 3: Final round is the personal interview stage.
How to Apply?
Read this step by Step Process to apply online for appearing the NID entrance exams 2017
- Sign up online by visiting the site http://admissions.nid.edu
- Now, log-in to the account by using email id and the DOB provided during sign up
- Fill all the details in the application form and then click ‘Save and Proceed’ to ‘Upload Document Section’
- Then after Upload Photograph & Signature and then click ‘Save & Proceed’ to Payment section.
- Pay the application fee of Rs.1,500/- ( for General Category) or Rs. 750/- (for-OBC-NCL / SC / ST / PwD) through Credit/Debit Card OR offline by Demand Draft. That’s the Procedure.
Conditions
If you are paying the application fee with Credit/Debit Card method: Nothing to do, just click on ‘Save & Proceed’ and take the printout of the application.
If you are paying the application fee through Demand Draft method: remit the requisite fee (Rs.1,500/- ( for General Category) or Rs. 750/- (for-OBC-NCL / SC / ST / PwD category)) taken favour of “All India Management Association, New Delhi” to the address given below.
