Institute Overview

The Biju Patnaik Film and Television Institute of Odisha, Cuttack (BPFTIO), is one of the known film and Television institutes in India after FTII and SRFTI. The institute was constituted by the Government of Orissa (now known as Odisha) in 1998 under World Bank assisted scheme to fulfill the requirement of well trained manpower in the field of film production in India. The organization is located inside the campus of Bhubanananda Orissa School of Engineering (BOSE), Cuttack. BPFTIO is affiliated with State Council for Technical Education & Vocational Training, Government of Orissa.

List of Courses Offered By Biju Pattanaik Film & Television Institute Odisha (BPFTIO)

BPFTIO is offering 3-year courses in the following disciplines given below.

  1. Diploma in Cinematography
  2. Diploma in Sound & TV. Engineering
  3. Diploma in Film & Video Editing

Eligibility

…for attending Cinematography and Sound & TV. Engineering course

Candidates with 10+2 or equivalent in the science subject from any State Board/ ICSE/CBSE with minimum 35% marks can apply.

….for attending Diploma in Film & Video Editing

Candidates studied and passed 10+2 or equivalent in Science/ Arts/ Commerce from any State Board/ ICSE/ CBSE and taken together minimum 35% marks are eligible to apply.

Age Eligibility

The age of the candidate must be between 16 to 28 years as on 1.6.2016. There shall be 3 years upper age relaxation (means they can apply till the 31st age) for the candidates belonging to SC/ST.

Total Number of Seats and Seats Distribution

There are 20 seats in each department of BPFTIO. The Seats distribution is given as below.

15% seats in each department are reserved for SC candidates

25% seats in each department are reserved for ST candidates (by birth)

30% seats in each department are reserved for female candidates

Two seats in each department are reserved for candidates from outside Odisha.

Important Thing: The candidates applying for admission against the above seats shall have to submit the relevant certificate/ certificates to prove their cast/ city of residence etc.

From the Campus

The application form with the Information Brochure will be available from 10 June, 2016 by paying application fee of Rs. 100/- at the campus address given below.

By post

Send a letter through the registered post, by sending Rs. 100/- as demand draft taken in favour of The Principal, Biju Pattanaik Film & Television Institute of Odisha, Cuttack along with a self-addressed stamped envelope (Size: 22 cm x 30cm) affixed  with a postage stamp of Rs. 50/- .

The documents to be included are:- completely filled application form, DD  (Rs.100/- in favour of The Principal, Biju Pattanaik Film & Television Institute of Odisha, Cuttack) and supporting documents.

Selection Procedure

Entrance Exam

N/A

The selection is purely on the basis of qualifying exam (+2) marks with minimum cut off marks as 35% of aggregate.

Based on the qualifying marks, the institute will shortlist the candidates and later such shortlisted candidates will be invited for attending a counseling secession.

The head of various departments and faculty members will be present in the counseling secession. They may ask viva-questions to check the candidate’s creative skills and subject aptitude.

Course Fees

Tuition fee for the candidates outside Orissa Rs.35, 000/- (Rupees Thirty-five thousand) only

Refundable deposit at the time of Admission- Rs.1, 000/- (Rupees One Thousand only)
