About Indian Institute of Journalism and Mass Communication (IIMC)

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism (IIMC) is an autonomous media and Journalism Institute organized Under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The Institute was started in 1965 on the recommendation of mass communication specialists from UNESCO and the Ford Foundation. Initially, the organization has only one campus in New Delhi and later on it has started sub-campus of IIMC in Dhenkanal, Odisha, Jammu, J&K, Aizawl, Mizoram, Amravati, Maharashtra, and Kottayam, Kerala.

Admissions to the various journalism courses in IMMC are based on an Entrance Exam, which conducting usually in the month of May every year.

3. Eligibility for Joining in IIMC

Qualification: Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline are exactly eligible to participate in the Post Graduate Journalism diploma courses offering at IIMC. Those who have appeared / appearing final degree examinations are also eligible to apply.
Age Eligibility: Candidates Born 1.8.1991 or later (for SCs/STs/PH 1.8.1986 or later and for OBC 1.8.1988 or later are eligible to participate in this program.
Nationality: Only Indian National Candidates are Eligible for participating in the Mass Communication Journalism Course offering at Indian Institute Of Mass Communication and Journalism.

4. Seats Distribution at Indian Institute of Journalism and Mass Communication (IIMC)

Seats Reserved for NRI Candidates: Five Year

Reservation of Seats: As per Government of India Orders for SC/ST/PH/OBC candidates

Rest of the seats will provide for candidates in the General Category.

6. How to apply for IIMC Entrance Exam 2017-18?

The application for IIMC 2017-18 can be purchased by in person or by post or purchase by online or Via the IIMC campus in New Delhi.

Option 1: Purchase IIMC Entrance Exam Application Form in Person or By Post:  The Application forms of IIMC for 2017-2018 and prospectus can be obtained on payment of Rs. 1200/- for general category and Rs. 1100/- for SC/ST/OBC/PH category through a demand draft only, drawn on any scheduled bank payable to Registrar IIMC at New Delhi, from IIMC New Delhi or IIMC Dhenkanal (Odisha). Request for application forms should be accompanied by a Demand Draft & a self-addressed stamped (Rs. 70/-) envelope (27×17 cm).

Option 2: On-line Application process: The application form can download from www.iimc.gov.in. The application fee for general category is Rs. 1200/- and for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped categories Rs.1100/- The fee should take as Demand Draft drawn in favour of Registrar, IIMC New Delhi on or before 1^st Week of May 2017.

Option 3:  The application form is also available from various campuses of IIMC.

 

7. Admit Card

All those successfully completed the IIMC application form are eligible to receive the Admit card (Also called IIMC Hall Ticket). You can download it from the IIMC official website http://iimc.nic.in/ or via offline mode.

8. IIMC Result

IIMC result will declare 3^rd Week June 2017. The details of the same can find on their official website http://iimc.nic.in/

9. Selection Process

The Selection of candidates to various courses IIMC are based on the following 3 factors.

1^st Factor: Those who scored high percentage in the IIMC entrance exam. The Entrance exam pattern of IIMC 2017 already discussed earlier. You can Download IIMC 2016, 2015, ..etc previous year question papers here

2^nd Factor: Based on the performance Score in the Group Discussion Round.

3^rd Factor: Based on the Scores attained in the Graduation.
